Yesterday was a good Friday. Literally. And the magnitude of everything that happened on Easter really hit me hard.

Beautiful People was formed one day when Georgie and I were talking and realized what a great thing it was to ask questions about your characters. I said to her, "We should start a blog meme-thing." And she said, "Okay."

Hence, Beautiful People was born.

If you haven't joined yet, you can do so here. I must confess that after reading all of your submissions (which are fanTASTIC, by the way), I feel a little insecure about sharing my character with you this month. She's not nearly as epic as your characters seem, but I love her anyway.

Meet Reese.

Reese is the main character of the first novel I ever finished, appropriately titled Reese's Pieces. She's pretty much based off of me, although there are some things that are different about her. She's one of the wackiest, most sarcastic, most hilarious characters I've ever written, if I do say so myself. (She's got my amount of sarcasm times a million.)

Her style looks a little like this:

Let's do it!

1. How old is he/she?

16 in the first half of the book, 17 in the second. :P

2. What does he/she do with his/her spare time?

In her spare time, Reese likes to write poetry, daydream, hang out with her best friend Addi, go to the music store with her brother Justin, hang out with her pseudo-older brother Ben, and take road trips in her olive green van.

3. Does he/she see the big picture or live in the moment?

Reese is the type of person to live in the moment, but she wonders what the future is like. So in a way, she has a little bit of both. She does have the tendency to worry (who am I kidding? I do it too), but most of the time, she likes to embrace the present.

4. Is he/she a perfectionist?

Heh. Yeah. Probably.

5. What does her handwriting look like? (round, slanted, curly, skinny, sloppy, neat, decorative, etc.)

She uses a simple print style most of the time, but occasionally she'll use cursive. Her print style is round, neat, and curly. Her cursive is slanted, neat, and decorative. ;)

6. Favorite animal?

She likes baby tigers. A lot. As in, if they weren't so fierce, she'd have one as a pet.

7. Does he/she have any pets?

Reese doesn't have any pets in the first book, but this just gave me an idea for the sequel! Since she can't get a baby tiger, I think she'll get a tiny kitten named Mocha.

8. Does he/she have any siblings? How many? Where does he/she fit in?

Reese has two siblings - her older, married sister Laney, and her 20-something brother, Justin. Reese is the youngest, and is the only one still at home, although she and Justin have a close relationship. Her brother-in-law is named Chris. She also has an almost-brother named Ben, who is Justin's best friend. Then she has two almost-sisters - Janae, and Reese's best friend Addi.
...She has a lot of unbiological siblings. :P

9. Does he/she have a 'life verse' and if so what is it?

I know this is going to sound cliche and overused, but it truly is Jeremiah 29:11. I was learning the meaning of that verse around the time I was writing Reese's Pieces, so it kind of wove itself into my writing.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Reese doesn't know the future, but most of the time, she remembers that God has plans for her - good plans. And that's all she needs to know. Kind of like Owl City says...

"I don't need a telescope to see that there's hope, and that makes me feel brave."

(If only I could take that to heart more easily!)

10. Favorite writing utensil?

She loves black pens with really slick writing gel. I don't know what you call them. Gel pens, probably?

I never expected to get to 50 followers. I would see blogs with 50 followers or more, and think, "how did they get that far?"

And now I'm wondering the same thing about myself.

The sky is a really pretty shade of blue right now, and I have a headache. I want to write something epic... something amazing. Like, something about Avary and her epic quest to save the world. The problem with that story is, I'm not sure where to begin. My dad told me, "whatever you do, don't start at the beginning." I'm still trying to figure out how to interpret that...

As far as Avary's story goes, I have half-a-plot and TONS of ideas. I even have 5-10 scenes written. But that's where the inspiration stops. I mean, I know I have half the scenes written, in fact a lot of the major plot points. But as for the in-between, as for actually starting... I have no idea what I'm doing.

Speaking of having no idea what I'm doing, Pip and I are halfway through that crazy thing called Script Frenzy (the thing that also has incapacitated my blog for a little while). We're 56 pages in, and I'm lovin' it so far. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I love it. My mind is filled with sluglines, character dialogue, actions, and how to write the perfect flashback.

And as much as I have talked about writing in this post, I really haven't been writing at all. My main project, Reese's Pieces book 2, is at a stand still, at least for now until I can actually find time to write. *sigh*

I have a bunch of blog post ideas, but I've been modding and writing and living life. Plus, I have been getting over my allergies, and my pain level has been really high this week. Even now I have a headache.

By the time I'm done typing this, the sky is an even deeper, more beautiful shade of blue. I'm looking out at the streetlight, and I am going to eat some chocolate cheesecake. Adios. :D

...Maybe. We have to thaw it out first. Microwave, anyone?

I woke up with this song in my head this morning, and no matter how many times I hear it, I still love it. FM Static is one of my favorite bands, and this is one of my favorite songs. Ever.

This is the post where I apologize for not blogging.

I'm sorry for not blogging.

That said, I have been busy. Between getting new couches, driving all around town, watching Secret Millionaire, school, and babysitting, well, life has been crazy. Oh, and did I mention that I was asked to be a forum moderator on NarniaWeb.com? That was pretty much the highlight of my month. ;) I'm enjoying being a mod so much! The moderators are great, and a lot less scary now that I am one. ;) When I got a PM asking me to mod, I pretty much freaked. So here's a shout out to my NWeb peeps that read my blog. You are all amazing!

Another thing I've been doing is exploring the world of scriptwriting, with this crazy person, my Pip. We're participating in the month of craziness known as Script Frenzy. It's been pretty fun. We're at 19 pages right now, though I'm working to bring that to 20. I just got distracted and had to blog. Oops. :P Our script is going amazingly well though, and if you'd like to keep up on our progress, we have a joint account here, as well as my own on the adult SF site.

Anyway, I'll try to get back into blogging. At this point, this is going to be a short post, because for the past two days I've had an extremely bad headache. Tuesday was kind of like my Monday, except my Monday was pretty crazy-busy too, as I spent the afternoon helping little kids learn how to do public speaking. So the past couple days have been kind of hard for me. Hence the title. This weekend was fun but exhausting, because we bought a new couch and spent half the weekend running around town. Since I have chronic pain, and part of what I deal with includes chronic fatigue, it's been hard to recover from doing so much. *sigh*

Prayers would be appreciated. I've just been feeling kind of down lately, especially because of my incessant headache, so if you have any encouraging words, please leave them in a comment. :) I've missed you guys! *hugs*
